How To Get Your Domain Name
As you probably already know, I design and develop websites. Part of the process of designing and developing a website is getting a domain name as well as acquiring a service to host your website.
I decided to create videos to streamline the process of having to explain how to complete both of these tasks. This is a 2 part series and can be used even if I am not building your website. You should find both of them very helpful. Plus, you may want to follow along with the video and complete the tasks.
This video will illustrate how to get your domain name. There are many companies out there who are selling domains. I use Go Daddy specifically for my domains. As a matter of fact, all the domains that I own came from Go Daddy.
A couple of things you should take note of:
- Always try to get the “.com” as it is the most popular
- Go Daddy will try to upsell you on the way to checkout. (Don’t worry. The video will help you through it. You don’t need the extra stuff.)
- You will have to create an account with Go Daddy. (Don’t worry. It is for managing your domain.)
- Write down your username and password. (You will need it when you go to host the domain.)
- Don’t use Go Daddy Hosting. (They are good, but the next video will point you to better hosting.)
After you get your domain name, you will be ready to go to the next video. You will find the link to go to the second video below the video screen.
