In this video, I will illustrate how to get a hosting service for your new website.  There are many services out there.  B The one I am recommending is by far my favorite.  I use it for all my websites.

Here are the written directions to get an account…

1. Click on “Web Hosting” in the top navigation bar
2. Scroll down a little and view the plans.  Make sure that you stay on the linux hosting, cause the windows hosting is not as good.  Also, there are basically 3 plans that you will have to choose from:

• Hatchling
• Baby
• Business
  I would recommend at least starting with the Baby.  You will be able to host multiple domains on that server.  If you want to move one step ahead, then go with the Business.  That is what I use.  I have at least 4 websites running on that account, and will eventually be running all my websites on that account.  I also have an autoresponder/email manager installed there.  That is where the Dedicated IP comes in handy.

3.  Click the order button on the service which you want to use
4.  You will have to chosoe a domain name that you already have for the next step.  Click the radio button “I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only.”, then enter in the domain that you want to use, then click “Next”
5.  Choose how you want to pay… IE. monthly,bi-annually,yearly…etc
6.  The rest of the process is fairly simple and self explanatory.

After you have the service set up, send me all the login information, and I will take it from there, including redirecting the existing domain name that you chose to the new server.

I decided to create videos to streamline the process of having to explain how to complete both of these tasks.  This is a 2 part series and can be used even if I am not building your website.  You should find both of them very helpful.  Plus, you may want to follow along with the video and complete the tasks.

This video will illustrate how to get your domain name.  There are many companies out there who are selling domains.  I use Go Daddy specifically for my domains.  As a matter of fact, all the domains that I own came from Go Daddy.

A couple of things you should take note of:

• Always try to get the “.com” as it is the most popular
• Go Daddy will try to upsell you on the way to checkout.  (Don’t worry.  The video will help you through it.  You don’t need the extra stuff.)
• You will have to create an account with Go Daddy.  (Don’t worry.  It is for managing your domain.)
• Write down your username and password.  (You will need it when you go to host the domain.)
• Don’t use Go Daddy Hosting.  (They are good, but the next video will point you to better hosting.)

After you get your domain name, you will be ready to go to the next video.  You will find the link to go to the second video below the video screen.

Auto-responders also have more than one use. They can be used as a contact manager.  They can be used for scheduling and managing email blasts.  Plus, they can help build and store multiple lists and email sequences while taking away all the tedious busy work of doing it manually.

There are basically 2 types of auto-responders:

• Subscription based auto-responders

This kind is easier because someone else already has it installed for you and other users to use.   It may also be a little easier for a newbie to use.  You will also find a monthly subscription fee associated with the service.

There are also some drawbacks to the subscription based auto-responder.  You may be limited to the amount of contacts you are allowed to have.  With most of these services, you are sharing an IP address with other subscribers.  Depending on the service, your emails may not always reach their destination.  Lastly, you may end up paying more in the long run for this type of service than just buying your own server based auto-responder.

• One time pay auto-responders

This type has many more benefits than drawbacks.  First, there is absolutely no limit to how many contacts you can have.  Next, you can get an individual IP address from your host, which will eliminate email providers from blocking your IP address because of something that you didn’t do.  Unlike subscription auto-responders, you will have better control of your contacts with this type.

There are also many more configuring options available to you, which include setting the number of emails that go out per minute.  This may not be a big deal to you, but email providers will flag and potentially block IP addresses who try to send out too many emails at a time.

Knowing the right type of auto-responder for your individual situation can save you time, money, and even keep your stress lower.  Choose carefully and start enjoying the massive rewards one can get from this powerful tool.

Web Design is a very important piece of the online puzzle.  It is the creation of a digital environment where people will come and find out about you or your products. It’s like a brochure that people can view online.

Here are some very important characteristics that you should consider when having a website designed:

• Color Scheme
  A website’s color scheme can enhance a visitor’s experience while visiting the site.  Light backgrounds with dark type are the best when it comes to being able to read type on a website most effectively.  This creates a high contrast that makes it easier on the eyes.  Dark backgrounds with light words have been proven to be harder to read.
• Layout
  The layout of the website is also a key element.  A visitor will often stay longer if what they are looking for is easily found on the website that they are visiting. This should include multiple navigation bars, pictures that illustrate destinations (or other pages), as well as text.  A site map should also be included and is also required for effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
• Fonts and Text
  The fonts and text of a website should flow well with the theme of the website.  The Heading text should be in bold and be a few sizes bigger than the normal text.  Also, the normal text should be big enough that it can read easily.
• General Theme
  The general theme of the website really depends on what the needs of the individual are.  Many kinds of themes exist including:
  • Blogs
  • ECommerce sites
  • Static sites
  • Forum/ Social Media type sites
  • And many other variations of the above type site

In conclusion, when designing your next website, design it with the visitor in mind.  Make it interesting as well as easy on the eyes to create the best possible experience for your visitors.  The longer they stay on your site, the more value they will get, creating a higher probability that they will return in the future.
